Thanksgiving at the Black Calvados (Thu 27 Nov)

My vision of Thanksgiving had been fed by bad American sit-coms and Hollywood movies. The fantasy was illustrated with wood-paneled kitchens, plaid tableclothes, happy families and interesting dishes involving pumpkins. But we’re not in Kansas anymore, Pepe…

As Paris is Paris, there was no wood paneling, no daggy mom, no plaid. Instead Thanksgiving dinner took place in one of Paris’ more discreet and select bars, the Black Calvados http://www.blackcalavados.com/, a relaxed and cool lounge for the beautiful and wealthy. Mom was two hot New Yorkers. The kitchen was industrial stainless steel and the chef was a Cordon Bleu graduate. The family was a population of models, photographers, actors, film-makers, stockbrokers and doctors, and dear cousins Chanel and YSL handbags were there in big numbers. Uncle Johnny Walker helped put on the event too. As you can see, all was great fun and completely delicious. NR
