BALLET: Kaguyahime at Opéra Bastille

Jiří Kylian, the Czech choreographer and former artistic director of the Netherlands Dance Theatre, offers the Paris Opera Ballet a new take on one of his works of singular beauty. Kaguyahime is a 10th century Japenese folklore that tells the story of a young girl who, as a baby, was discovered inside a bamboo stalk. Interweaving traditional Japanese and western music, Kylian’s Kaguyahime unveils a fantasy world shaped by moods and emotions.
