Considering Martin Margiela’s notoriously reclusive reputation it’s quite funny to imagine celebrity – even in the arty packaging of R.E.M.’s front man Michael Stipe – collaborating with Antwerp’s fabled and fortressed avant-garde prince. But in some whitewashed loft in Belgium or New York just such a meeting must have taken place, the proof being the ‘MS09′ limited-edition collection of 199 numbered, signed and wearable microcassette ’sculpturettes’ available now (for around 400 euros), to wear or to contemplate.
