Graffiti artist to the stars – Kanye West blogged about him just the other day – André is presenting some new work, produced in his off time from tagging his alter-ego Mr A around the world, or taking over Paris as a member of the city’s hip mafia La Clique (Le Baron, Hotel Amour, La Fidelité, etc…). For 1997-2003′s ‘Love Graffiti’ project, idle romantics commissioned André to spraypaint the names of their lovers in various neighbourhoods around the world. Romantic, passive aggressive, or stalker-ish and chilling, depending on your relationship with the art patron, the project shot him to fame – especially in Japan, where everyone you don’t know about is always already super famous. Private drawings, pulled from notebooks he’s kept over the years, show off the artist’s talent for evoking all things 70′s and day-glo nostalgic. The exhibition include thirty original drawings, limited-edition prints as well as a series of handpainted surfboards the result of a special collaboration with Quiksilver.
