This homey, modern little eatery located (literally) in the shadow of the Saint Roch church is one of the rare organic Italien restaurants in town (the other being their sister restaurant Cibus). Although empty the evening we dined there, the service was warm, and the chef kept poking his head out of the kitchen to see how things were going and to make suggestions. The pleasant decor is clean and modern, even though the Buren ceiling sculpture is a little bizarre. Dishes like calamari with zucchini and a balsamic reduction, and tagiatelli with cepe mushrooms were both winners, especially when washed down with a bottle of quality organic wine. AM

KITSUNE
At last, the hyperactive London/ Paris style collective Kitsuné opens a store in Paris. With whitewash walls and lots of light coming in from the front and side windows, the cute space stocks their entire menswear and womenswear collections. What’s more, they’ve got an exclusive collection just for the boutique plus all the collaboration collections with the likes of Pierre Hardy, Evening dress Commun, Underwear Schiesser. And, of course, there’s their entire musical catalogue… MM

Sans oublier tout le catalogue musical de Kitsuné.
KITSUNÉ
Not just a record label that churns out massively fresh compilations, Paris-based international crew Kitsuné also propose hot menswear with a soft, cool style. Designer Masaya Kuroki, one of the label’s founders, is keen on creating new classics, with an impeccable quality of fabrication. The cotton used is from France, jeans from Okayama, and cashmere from the same factory as Hèrmes in Scotland. Their winter 08 collection ‘Pasolini’ has just the right dose of urban melancholy, and includes their annual limited-edition Pierre Hardy collaboration. And they get our vote for the most original scented candle: sesame ice-cream. KDG
En plus d’être un label musical qui sort des compilations vraiment réussies, le groupe international Kitsuné, basé à Paris, propose des vêtements pour homme qu’on adore, au style cool et doux. Masaya Kuroki, designer qui a co-fondé la marque, tient à créer de nouveaux classiques à la qualité impeccable. Le coton est français, les jeans nous viennent d’Okayama, et le cachemire de la même usine écossaise que celui utilisé chez Hermès. Leur collection hiver 08, intitulée ‘Pasolini’, a pile la dose qu’il faut de mélancolie urbaine, et comprend leur collaboration annuelle en édition limitée avec Pierre Hardy. Ils remportent aussi la palme de la bougie parfumée la plus originale : glace au sésame. KDG
PLAY BY COMME DES GARCONS
Rei Kawakubo is up to her usual tricks with seriously desirable concept-driven products. Her new perfume Play is part of her eponymous line of unchanging basics, or ‘prototypes’, instantly recognisable by the cute heart logo, designed by New York based graphic artist Filip Pagowski. Presented in a basic white box, in an emblematic glass bottle, the tangy scent is perfect for summer; a fresh bouquet of bitter orange, black pepper, lime and saffron. For May and June an exhibition ‘Playbird’ of 3 cute limited-edition t-shirts by Pagowski is on show in all Comme des Garçons boutiques, and the perfume is sold in duo with a t-shirt for 100€.
La Rei Kawakubo qu’on connaît est de retour avec des produits déterminés par le concept, dont on a très envie. Son nouveau parfum, Play, fait partie de sa ligne éponyme de classiques qui ne changent pas, ou ‘prototypes’, instantanément reconnaissables au mignon logo en forme de cœur, signé de l’artiste graphiste new-yorkais Filip Pagowski. Présenté dans une sobre boîte blanche, dans une emblématique bouteille en verre, la fragrance pétillante, un frais bouquet d’orange amère, de poivre noir, de citron vert et de safran, est parfaite pour l’été. En mai et en juin, l’exposition Playbird de 3 adorables t-shirts de Pagowski, en édition limitée, est à voir dans toutes les boutiques Comme des Garçons, et le parfum est vendu en duo avec un t-shirt pour 100€.

The huge mural featuring flocks of tropical birds on the otherwise white and clinical walls is a good metaphor for this chic new organic eatery. You may not be excited by the refrigerated shelves of prepared salads and smoothies, but order from the blackboard menu a freshly prepared toasted sandwich filled with goat’s cheese and grilled vegetables, or a freshly squeezed juice, and wow! The taste bursts out. Feeling virtuous after your healthy lunch, you can splash out with a real coffee (it’s not all decaf and herbal teas) and a deeply satisfying, dense chocolate brownie. The Eames chairs and plate-glass windows draw waiflike fashion people and Japanese tourists – it’s the new canteen for the Faubourg St-Honoré. But can all those paper cups and plastic containers be good for the planet?
