Spotted a few days ago at the Cinémathèque. I overheard he was talking about his collection of old records and when was the stereo invented. Funny chap! Sad how people seem to have forgotten him a smidge these days.
I guess he still goes to openings even if he is quite dead, literally. I have been shocked to talk to kids who don't know who he was. In my day everyone knew who ANDY was (without the sirname). Rest assured, Andy is not forgotten! But where is today's FACTORY?
Not sure about how good the analogy is, but the trio Dash Snow/Dan Colen/Ryan McGinley seem to have the provocateur thing going for them...collaborations....where fashionability/art collide, messily....more of a lifestyle than anything. All kids hanging out there, taking drugs, making art. So, it seems to me, a bastardised social artistically questionable factory is in the Lower East Side....there are of course far more productive ones in ugly German ex industrial cities.....
