LE MEURICE BY STARCK
Starck is back in the headlines with his facelift of the downstairs areas of the 5-star Parisian palace, Le Meurice, and particularly the creation of a new, more informal dining space for chef Yannick Alléno, Le Dali. Inspired by the universe of one of the hotel’s legendary guests, the Surrealist prankster Salvador Dali, Starck has included some curious pieces, including a distorted ‘Pinocchio’ piano, or a chair with high heels on each of its feet. The new look is fresh and fun, though still true to the hotel’s nostalgic French style. Starck’s now moved on to his overhaul of another hotel, the Royal Monceau, where the new owner has decided to replace Jacques’ Garcia royalist excesses with the creations of our preferred French king of design.
Starck est de retour sur le devant de la scène, puisqu’il rafraîchit le rez-de-chaussée du Meurice, palace parisien 5 étoiles, et surtout, crée Le Dali, nouvel espace restauration moins formel, pour le chef Yannick Alléno. Inspiré de l’univers d’un des clients légendaires de l’hôtel, le peintre surréaliste et farceur Salvador Dali, Starck intègre des éléments curieux, dont un piano ‘Pinocchio’ déformé, ou encore une chaise dont chaque pied porte des talons hauts. Ce nouveau look est amusant et frais, tout en restant fidèle au style français nostalgique du palace. Starck s’affaire maintenant à rénover un autre hôtel, le Royal Monceau, dont le nouveau propriétaire a décidé de remplacer les excès flamboyants de Jacques Garcia par des créations de notre roi gaulois préféré du design.
