This Bastille Italian is a favourite of Christian Lacroix and Jean-Paul Gaultier and we can see why they love it. Opening the door we were swept into a mélée of delicious smells and tremendous noise, with a jovial man at the bar turning away diners who hadn’t booked. A confident local crowd of all ages is crammed into a space which seems more tall than it is wide with huge mirrors, a giant blackboard menu and antipasti counter in the middle. The food is old school and not exceptional, but the atmosphere is unbeatable.
